Culex nigripalpus is a medium-sized dark brown mosquito with metallic bronze to blue-green highlights in the abdomen and legs. It is nondescript and difficult to identify in the field. The species is tropical to subtropical in nature, with a distribution that ranges from southern North America, through the Caribbean, to northern South America. Photos are of female C. nigripalpus except the top right, which is a male.
